Corinth, Lovis (1858-1925) Lovis Corinth was born in Tapiau, East Prussia. Corinth was considered a German painter of the Impressionistic genre and a graphic artist. After a stroke in 1911 his works were radically different. Prior to his illness he painted portraits, nudes, and historical subjects in warm and sensual colors, his later works are tormented and animated in harsh colors. He died in Zandvoort, Holland in 1925.
