    About Dixie (Blackbirds)

The jazz era of the 1920's brought black performers from Harlem's Cotton Club to white audiences for the first time. Producer Leslie, a white impresario, pioneered these revues, revolutionizing theatre-going in New York City. Tap-dancer Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson starred, himself immortalized in song, some forty two years later.
