How do I search your database of prints?

There are three main ways to find the ideal print for your home or search for a picture that you have already seen elsewhere:

  • Keyword Search: The keyword search function appears on every page and enables you to perform rapid searches by title, artist name, subject (ie. landscape or city) or genre (ie. modern or renaissance). The keyword search supports multi-word queries too (ie. renaissance landscape). A large number of different subjects are covered in our database, but avoid the use of plurals and keep your search terms short. If you find that you are getting too many results, try adding an extra word into your query to refine it. The maximum number of results returned is 500.
  • Search by Category: Browsing through our category pages is a good way to get ideas if are not quite sure what you are looking for. Categories can be accessed via the navigation at the left of every page. Upon enlarging any image you can tell what category it belongs too and browse that category for similar images.
  • Search by Artist: Browsing this way enables you to view one image by each artist, sorted in alphabetical order by surname. Click on the image to view more works by that artist. Select 'search by artist' from the navigation (left) to browse this way.

How do I choose a frame for my print?

Once you have found the ideal print, you may wish to choose a frame for it using our custom framing facility. To do this, click on the icon that says 'View Framed' under each thumbnail size image on the site or to the right of the image when it is enlarged. There are a wide variety of framing options to choose from.

  • Frame mouldings: You can change the frame moulding by selecting from the frames menu; change the category of frame from, for example, 'light wood' to 'gold' by clicking on the 'gold' button on the frames menu.
  • Mounts: A mountboard is a piece of card that forms a border around your print. You can change the size and colour of your mount using the mounts menu at the left of the framing page. You can also remove mount completely, in which case we will frame the print up to the edge of the image.

Why do images of the same piece of artwork sometimes look different on the website?

The digital images on the website come from a variety of different sources and may have been saved in different ways by the publishers and suppliers who provide them to us. This is why two images of the same piece of artwork may appear differently from one another. The prints themselves however are faithfull reproductions of the original works.

Why do some images have odd markings on them?

Some of the digital images on the website have had a 'watermark' applied to them by the publisher to prevent copyright infringement. These watermarks do no appear on the prints themselves. Here are some examples of watermarks:

What is a canvas effect finish?

The canvas finishing process involves the application of a textured film to the surface of the print under pressure. This gives the print the look and feel of canvas and is an alternative to glazing. We offer prints finished in this way 'box mounted'; a great contemporary finish for your artwork.

Canvas finishing cannot be used as a way of enlarging or shrinking images, rather, it is a treatment to the surface of the print. More on canvas finishing...

What is a giclee print?

A WorldGallery giclee print is a custom printed image created to your own specifications. Wherever you see 'giclee print' under an image or the 'size your own' icon appears a range of options are available to customise your artwork. Giclee prints are available on paper or canvas and can be printed to virtually any size you please! Superb quality inks and state of the art machines are used to ensure a perfect result every time.
