Patrick Adam (1854-1929)
Patrick Adam was born in Edinburgh. His father was a well known lawyer.
Adams trained at the Royal Scottish Academy and exhibited there between 1872 and 1916 as well as at the Royal Academy from 1878 to 1928 as well as being a founding member of the artist’s group, the Society of Eight in 1912.
Adam began painting portraits but later concentrated more on landscapes and genre scenes. He began to paint interior scenes after moving to North Berwick in 1908 and thse are the works for which he is perhaps best known today.
