The British Scene - Fishing port scene, 1939-1946

Grace Lydia Golden (1904 - 1993) was born to a working-class East London family and won a scholarship to the Chelsea College of Art, later studying and teaching at the Royal College of Art. Her work in both watercolours and oil is loved for its exquisite attention to detail, making it a historical document as well as beautiful art.
