| Leonardo, da Vinci (1452-1519), was probably the greatest intellect to come from the Italian renaissance. He was a brilliant scientist and inventor and made drawings of helicopters, submarines and many other machines, hundreds of years before they became a reality. His interests were so diverse however, that few of his projects were completed and only a handful of finished paintings exist.
