Crite, Alan Rohan (1910- ) Alan Crite was born in Boston and studied art at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. Primarily an artist of religious works, (many of which are in museums and private collections), Crite has done murals and Stations of the Cross for churches, written and illustrated three books on religious themes, lectured on liturgical art at universities and churches, and exhibited both in the USA and abroad. Crite's oils and graphics, are bright in tone, rhythmic and dramatic in movement, and often patterned. Some of his flat, elongated drawings recall early Gothic art. In his own words, he follows he ancient tradition of Christian art, in showing the holy events of the Life of Our Lord in contemporary terms."" |
