Print Info
This panoramic photograph of Louisville was taken by James Blakeway. It features downtown Louisville as seen looking across the Ohio River. The bridge spanning the Ohio is the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge, completed in 1929. The two red-roofed buildings are Waterfront Plaza. The tall building with the domed roof is Aegon Center. To its right are the tall National City Tower and the Humana Building. Louisville was named for King Louis XVI of France in appreciation for his assistance during the revolutionary war. This scenic city was founded by George Rogers Clark in 1778. |
